What to include in your request
A quote is only as good as the information behind it, so the more of the list below you can send, the closer the first number will be to the final one. None of it is mandatory beyond a way to reach you and something that identifies the part, and if all you have today is a sketch and a rough quantity, send those and Symmco will ask for whatever else it needs.
- A part number, if you have one
- A Symmco catalogue number is ideal, and an industry interchange number works just as well, because the family pages already cross-reference 794 stock sizes to the part numbers they replace. With a number in hand you can skip the drawing altogether.
- A drawing or CAD file
- PDF, STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG, PNG, JPG or ZIP, up to two files and 8 MB in total on the form, with larger packages going to sales@symmco.com afterwards. For a custom pressed part it helps to know the envelope up front: Symmco makes parts as small as 0.050″ outside diameter and 0.050″ overall length, and as large as 6.00″ wide, 12.00″ long and 1.00″ thick.
- Material, if known
- Symmco runs bronze, iron-copper, iron, steel, stainless steel and soft magnetic composites, and most bearings are SAE 841 oil-impregnated bronze, with SAE 863 iron-copper where the load is higher. If you are not sure, say so and describe the duty instead; Symmco follows MPIF standards and will match a material to it.
- Quantity and annual volume
- Volume price breaks vary from part to part, so the annual figure matters even when the first order is small. If you would rather place a blanket purchase order with scheduled or Kanban releases, say so here and the quote will be built around that.
- Target date
- Stocked parts ship in 24 hours, non-stocked parts in as soon as 6 to 8 weeks with flexible scheduling, and a brand-new part needs its tooling delivered first. A date tells Symmco which of those three you are working against, and whether a stock size would get you there sooner.
- Application notes
- Shaft and housing details, load, speed, operating temperature and the environment the part lives in. The standard impregnating oil has an effective operating range of -10°F to 200°F, and multiple oil types are available, including special military-grade oils, so flag anything that runs outside that range.

Three fields are required: your name, your email, and the part numbers or a description. Everything else makes the quote better but can wait.
What happens after you send it
Every request lands with a member of Symmco’s sales or customer service team, who reads it and replies by email. Bearing quotes come back in one day, and structural quotes in less than a week. If the part calls for something Symmco does not run, high-temperature sintering for instance, that comes up at the quoting stage so alternatives can be discussed before anyone commits to tooling.
What the quote covers depends on which of three situations you are in, and the table sets them side by side.

Two things are worth asking for in the notes if they matter to you. Tooling on a custom part can be amortized into the piece price over a one-year term, although that is not Symmco’s standard ordering process, and if you already own tooling from another supplier, Symmco can take it as transfer tooling for quicker production, which the tool transfer page explains in more detail.
Whatever the quote covers, the parts are made in the USA at Symmco’s plants in Sykesville, Pennsylvania and Surgoinsville, Tennessee. Already know your stock part number?
Then you may not need this form at all. The part finder on the products page holds all 1,386 stock sizes across twelve families, lets you narrow by family and dimension, and puts a short quote-request form on every result, with the part number already filled in, so you only add a quantity and your contact details.
If you would rather read a full size table, each family has its own page with every stock size listed by dimension, a 2D drawing for most of them, and the industry interchange numbers each size replaces. Buyers who order through distribution can also go to Applied Industrial Technologies, Symmco’s main distributor.
Questions buyers ask before they send an RFQ
Is there a tooling charge on stock sizes?+
No. Symmco does not charge tooling costs on any standard tooling product, which covers every stock catalogue size. On a custom part the customer buys and owns the tooling, and from then on Symmco maintains it and replaces any broken tools at its own expense.
Is there a minimum order quantity?+
There is no minimum order quantity on stocked catalogue parts. Custom and non-stock parts have no minimum quantity either, but they do carry a $1,000 minimum manufacturing cost.
How long does a quote take, and how long until parts ship?+
Bearing quotes come back in one day and structural quotes in less than a week. Once ordered, stocked parts ship in 24 hours and non-stocked parts in as soon as 6 to 8 weeks with flexible scheduling. A brand-new custom part needs tooling first, which typically takes 3 to 5 weeks to deliver, followed by 6 to 10 weeks to manufacture.
What file types can I attach to the form?+
