Sintered bronze bushings, bearings & powder-metal parts
Symmco is a powder metal manufacturer with plants in Sykesville, Pennsylvania and Surgoinsville, Tennessee, producing sintered bronze and iron-copper components and holding the largest inventory of sintered bronze bushings and bearings in North America. The catalogue on this page lists 1,386 stock part numbers across 12 families, most of them SAE 841 oil-impregnated (self-lubricating) bronze, with SAE 863 iron-copper for higher-load parts. Every one of them is made in the USA at those two plants, 794 sizes carry the industry part numbers they interchange with, and 1,355 open a 2D drawing straight from the table. Use the part finder above to confirm a size and request a quote, or download the printed stock catalogue (PDF).

Ordering a stock size: tooling, minimums and lead time
Every size in the catalogue is a standard tooling product, and Symmco does not charge tooling costs on any of them; there is no minimum order quantity on stocked catalogue parts either, so the same catalogue serves a single replacement bushing and a scheduled production release. Stocked parts ship in 24 hours, non-stocked parts ship in as soon as 6 to 8 weeks with flexible scheduling, and blanket purchase orders with scheduled or Kanban releases are supported for the parts you buy on repeat. Volume price breaks are offered and vary by part. Behind the published tables sit over 1,500 unique stocked parts and tooling to make over 5,000 standard sized parts, and Symmco also lists over 400 metric bushing sizes and holds tooling for over 2,000 custom-made bushings, so a size that is not in a table is often still a standard one: ask, and a bearing quote comes back in one day.
| Term | Symmco |
|---|---|
| Tooling charge on stock sizes | None |
| Minimum order on stock sizes | None |
| Stocked parts | Ship in 24 hours |
| Non-stocked parts | Ship in as soon as 6 to 8 weeks, with flexible scheduling |
| Bearing quotes | One day turnaround |
| Structural quotes | Less than one week |
| Volume price breaks | Offered; they vary by part |
| Blanket purchase orders | Supported, with scheduled or Kanban releases |
Custom tooling, who owns it and how it is maintained, is covered on the tooling and terms page, and a part that is not in the catalogue starts with a request for quote.
Replacing another manufacturer’s bushing: interchange part numbers
794 of the 1,386 stock sizes list the industry part numbers they interchange with, so if the part number you hold comes from another maker’s catalogue, search the family table by that number and the Symmco equivalent comes up beside its dimensions and drawing. The cross-references cover these families:
Frequently asked questions
What materials are Symmco's parts made from?+
Most parts are SAE 841 oil-impregnated (self-lubricating) sintered bronze, which Symmco specifies as MPIF CT-1000-K26 and which is lead-free. Higher-load parts use SAE 863 iron-copper, and custom powder-metal blends are available for special applications.
Are the bronze bushings self-lubricating?+
Yes. SAE 841 bronze is sintered and then vacuum-impregnated with a high-grade, 100-viscosity, non-detergent rust and oxidation inhibited turbine oil, rated for an effective operating range of -10°F to 200°F, which makes the bearings self-lubricating and maintenance-free in most applications. Symmco's bronze holds 24% oil by volume against an industry standard of 19%, and other oils, including special military-grade oils, are available.
Is there a minimum order or a tooling charge on stock sizes?+
No. Symmco does not charge tooling costs on any standard tooling product, and there is no minimum order quantity on stocked catalogue parts, so a quote for a single piece is as welcome as a production release. Stocked parts ship in 24 hours, and volume price breaks are offered and vary by part, so ask Customer Service or Sales for the break points when you request a quote.
Does Symmco make custom parts, and how fast are quotes?+
Yes. Alongside the stock catalogue, Symmco engineers and manufactures custom powder-metal components in both high- and low-volume runs, with a one day turnaround on bearing quotes and less than one week on structural quotes. There is no minimum part quantity on custom work, although non-stock products carry a $1,000 minimum manufacturing cost, and when a part needs its own tooling, the tooling typically takes 3 to 5 weeks to deliver and a brand-new part six to ten weeks to manufacture once it arrives.
Where are Symmco parts made?+
Every part is made in the USA at Symmco's two plants, in Sykesville, Pennsylvania and Surgoinsville, Tennessee, which between them run 39 presses ranging from 5 to 750 tons.
Are 2D drawings available?+
Yes, for most stock sizes: 1,355 of the 1,386 catalogue part numbers open a 2D drawing (PDF) directly from the family size tables and the part finder.
